#ZLB049 - Hamburg Broom Works Broom Label - Train
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage uncommon 5" tall "Hamburg Broom Works" broom label. Also marked "Hamburg, Pa" and "8XXX". Very detailed image of a train on the tracks. Probably the Reading Railroad which runs through that area. Circa 1920s. These came from long time dealer Lorie Cairns who recently sold us her inventory. Lorie was one of the pioneers in this business and we are very grateful to her. Excellent unused condition.

6" tall vintage unused stock broom label picturing a bluebird on a branch. Circa 1930s. Found in a defunct broom factory warehouse in Illinois. These were labels that were actually used on broom handles. A lot of broom companies went out of business in the 1940s and 1950s when vacuum cleaners took their place in the American household.

Vintage 4 1/4" tall Indian Chief broom label. Nice colorful image of an Indian Chief in full headdress. These are what are called stock labels. They are labels that a printer held for broom companies to print their info on. Marked "Louis Roesch Co. San Francisco" (printer) in fine print at the bottom. Circa 1940s. These wrapped around a broom handle. Broom companies had a tough time in the 1930s and 40s when vacuum cleaners were mass produced and no longer an expensive luxury item. #ZLB016 - Broom Label Picturing the SS Atlantic
Vintage 5" tall colorful vintage broom label picturing the SS Atlantic. Nice old one. Circa 1920s. The SS Atlantic was a famous steamship of the White Star Line that wrecked off the coast of Nova Scotia in March of 1873. It was the worst marine disaster in Canada in the nineteenth century. Over 500 lives were lost. Labels have some curling, but will straighten right out if you put them in a book overnight.
