This catalog is dedicated to the memory of Zane Shaffer. He was a pioneer in this field who recently left us. A lot of you have likely crossed paths with him. He was, arguably, the largest dealer in our type of merchandise on the East Coast. His family sold us a large lot of his inventory with the hope that his items will find good homes with people who appreciate them. You will see a lot of them over the next year or so, and we will mark them as such. Here is a note from his family "Whether he was gettin' his road warrior on traveling to antique markets in places like Shupp's Grove or buying/selling online, he enjoyed every minute of it. He held a very special place in his heart for the people, the places, and 'the old things'. It's really good to know that his collection will reach all the folks that had the same passion about them. We truly hope you enjoy them as much as he did."

#TY781 - Small very old Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Merchandise Sticker/Label
Vintage1 3/4 wide foil sticker that says "RIngling Bros. Barnum Bailey Combined Circus". These are from around the 1920s and we used on Circus merchandise. These are unused old stock in excellent condition. These are very uncommon.

Vintage 3" wide gilded Verhampshire Peanut Butter label. These are circa the 1920s and unused old stock from C. M. Tice & Co. in Boston, MA. They picture mountain scene with a train going through a tunnel. Looks great on an old peanut butter jar.

#ZBOT147 - Elkay Tomato Catsup Label
Vintage 3 1/2" wide label says "Elkay Tomato Catsup the Mark of High Quality". They were found many years ago in the L. Klein building in Chicago and are embossed and gilded. Great for displaying on old jars you have laying around. Circa 1930s. Excellent unused condition. These are from the estate of famed dealer and friend Bob Secrist.

Vintage 4 1/4" wide circa 1940s Ziegler 520 beer label. Marked "Internal Revenue Tax Paid". The IRPT (Internal Revenue Tax Paid) statement was required on beer from around 1935 to 1950. They are also marked "Fine Quality Premium Beer" and "Louis Ziegler Brewing Co. Beaver Dam, WIS.". Nice old unused factory stock in excellent condition.

4 3/4" wide aluminized paper beer bottle label. Says Valley Brew Pale Premium Beer" El Dorado Brewing Co., Stockton, California Since 1853" "One Full Quart" "Internal Revenue Tax Paid". Unused old factory stock in excellent condition. This particular IRTP (Internal Revenue Tax Paid) mark dates them to the 1940s.

Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. You get 5 for $1 (that's 20¢ each). 4" wide beer bottle label that says "Steamship Overboard Ale" "Steamship Brewing Company Norfolk, Virginia". Nice colorful picture of a steamship. The company only existed under this name from 1995 to 1997, so these are from that time period. Not real common. We acquired these from a long time label dealer on the west coast that we bought out. Excellent unused condition.

#ZLC019 - Sunkist Alaska Exposition Lemon Crate Label
12 1/2" wide crate label pictures a diploma won by Johnston Fruit Company of Santa Barbara, California for their lemon entry into the 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition. Says Seattle 1909 on it. Vintage unused stock found at the Johnston Fruit Co. warehouse in Santa Barbara, California. Johnston Fruit Company was a distributor of Sunkist lemons. The Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition was a world's fair held in Seattle in 1909, publicizing the development of the Pacific Northwest. This label is a later version that they probably used into the 1930s or 40s.

Click the image to see a large detailed picture. 9" wide vintage El-West Delite Florida Citrus crate label from the Marion County Citrus Co. in Weirsdale, FL. Says "El-West Delite". There are from around the 1940s and have great art work. Unlike today, the whole point of the pictures on crate labels back then was to get your attention. They didn't care if the subject matter was related to the product. It was just about making you look. This is another good example. Wonderful picture of a vintage couple kissing in front of a giant heart. Excellent unused condition.

Vintage 13 1/4"" wide Kaap's Marigold candy box label. Marked 2 lbs.  crate label with a large image of a cruise ship. These are from around 1930 and were found at the old Kaap's building in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Very large and colorful. They are are in excellent unused condition. Nice one for framing.

Image of a loaded down lemon tree branch with lemons and flowers and a huge grove of trees in the mountains with a mission at the bottom of the road. These are old unused stock from around the 1930s that were found at the Klink Citrus Association in Ivanhoe, Tulare County, CA and are marked as such. Excellent unused condition.

#ZLCA*017 - Three Different very 1940s Citrus Labels
You get all three for 75¢ (that's 25¢ each). Triangle plays off of the Bermuda Triangle that fascinates people still to this day. It pictures a young man in the popular monogrammed shirts of the day ringing a musical triangle and standing in the middle a triangle with circular waves around it. It was a hot new topic during this time period. Rita-Anne and Ruby are both feature classic 1940s ladies. All three of these are unused stock from the Lake Region Packing Assn. in Tavares, FL. Nice condition. Triangle is the largest and is 9" wide. 1940s.
