This catalog is dedicated to the memory of Zane Shaffer. He was a pioneer in this field who recently left us. A lot of you have likely crossed paths with him. He was, arguably, the largest dealer in our type of merchandise on the East Coast. His family sold us a large lot of his inventory with the hope that his items will find good homes with people who appreciate them. You will see a lot of them over the next year or so, and we will mark them as such. Here is a note from his family "Whether he was gettin' his road warrior on traveling to antique markets in places like Shupp's Grove or buying/selling online, he enjoyed every minute of it. He held a very special place in his heart for the people, the places, and 'the old things'. It's really good to know that his collection will reach all the folks that had the same passion about them. We truly hope you enjoy them as much as he did."

#PINUP038 - Group of 10 Different Punchboard Pinups
You get 10 different for $10 (that's $1 each). Vintage 3" tall paper pinups with gummed backs. These are old unused stock that came out of a long closed punchboard factory. They went on the front of punchboards. Some are famous artists. There are many different types. We prepacked them all in sets of 10 different, but if you order 40 you will get probably 30 or more different. No special requests. Very very cool period pinups. Many corny pinup puns. A few letters may be cut off on one here and there because of the size that they had to make them to fit on the punchboards. If you have an old punchboard that's missing it's image, one of these will make it worth a whole lot more. These are a real bargain at this price. You never see them and these are in great condition. Circa 1950.

#CC229 - Large Coca Cola Jungleland Popcorn Bag
Vintage 13 1/2" tall Jungleland Coca Cola popcorn bag. Jungleland was a famous theme park in California that closed in the 1960s. It was used for many Hollywood films and catered to the film industry. These bags were stored in the bottom of the popcorn machines when the park closed. So they are from around the 1960s or perhaps 50s. They have a large Coke logo and tiger head pictured. This is the single nicest looking Coca Cola popcorn bag that we have ever seen. Nothing else comes close.  The colors and look is spectacular and they are very uncommon. We recently bought part of a huge collection of Coke items. These were part of the lot. The fellow that had this stuff is a friend who searched old bottling plants and hauled most of this stuff out many years ago. They are in excellent unused condition.

#CH079 - Ken Maynard Trick Rope in Original Cellophane Package
Vintage 1940's Ken Maynard toy TRICK ROPE in original package. 11" wide package says "toy trick rope - with the patented embedded swivel". These are in their original cellophane packaging (which is quite brittle and has tears), but the card and rope are in perfect condition. Even has a fake autograph on it. The patent number on the card is from the mid 1930s, however, guaging by how old he looks in the picture, I'd guess they are from around 1940. With his white cowboy hat, fancy shirt, and pair of six-shooters, Maynard appeared in more than 90 films from the 1920s to the mid-1940s before his career was ended by alcoholism. This was a warehouse find, but it wasn't huge and these won't be around forever. Trick ropes were sold by a lot of cowboy movie stars during this time period and usually go for $100 or more. This is a great item.
$12.00

#ZZCE021 - The Meadow Brook National Bank Stock Certificate - Indian Logo

#CC210 - Coca Cola Dry Server with a Pilot Drinking a Coke
Vintage 6 3/4" tall Coca Cola Dry Server with a picture of a pilot drinking a Coke. Says "Take off Refreshed". This is a very scarce one. We were happy to get some of them. These are paper sleeves that were dispensed from old Coke machines. The refrigeration in the old machines made the bottles sweat, so you put the bottle in one of these sleeves to keep them dry. Some people call them bottle bags, but the are really sleeves. Dated 1932. These are in exceptional condition. We just bought part of a huge collection of Coke items. These were part of the lot. The fellow that had this stuff is a friend who searched old bottling plants and hauled most of this stuff out many years ago.
$2.00

#ZLT016 - Long Distance Tobacco Wrapper
Vintage Long Distance tobacco wrapper. Unused stock from the Scotten, Dillon Company, Detroit, Michigan. These are very early and beatiful stone lithos. Circa 1910. A large lot of old boxes and paper were found at the Scotten Dillon warehouse many years ago. We just picked up several different types from the guy who rescued them, and he let loose of some of the oldest ones that were found. They are very nice and in excellent condition. The entire label is 12" long and wrapped around a plug of tobacco. The image pictured showed up on the front and is about 4" wide.
$1.00

#ZZA145 - Complete Set of 32 Different Blind Date for Men Pinup Arcade Cards
Complete set of 32 Exhibit Supply Blind Date for Men cards. Each one has a corny little story with 1940s humor many have what were considered risque poses for the time. The copyright date is 1941, which is the date the machines that dispensed these for a penny were originally made. The Exhibit Supply Company made them for the machines for years after.

We have a large lot of Exhibit Supply cards that we found in unopened bricks (you can see a picture of some of the bricks at the top of this department (Trading Card Shop). They are from a closed penny arcade. This is about the only way you would ever be able to find complete sets. The problem still is that there are more of some cards than others, so we can't assemble as many sets as you might think. These cards are uncommon. They are difficult to date because many of the machines were in production in the 1930s and 40s, but Exhibit Supply made cards for many of them all the way up to the early 1970s. The tale end stuff generally used lighter colored cardboard backing and printing on the bricks was stamped. The older ones have separate printed labels. So, we are using that info and the aging on the brick wrappers to estimate dates. The arcade must have bought the bricks of these during different time periods. Some are the lighter backs, but not the real light ones. We'll call it circa 1960.

$32.00

#CH138 - Colonel Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken French Fry Bag - Old One

Vintage unused KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) french fry bag. These are old ones. They have the old logo which pictures a serious colonel. As the years went on, the colonel smiled more. The cut and construction on this bag dates it to somewhere between the late 1950s and mid 1960s. They are in nice unused condition. A few boxes of these were found in an old building that housed a KFC a long time ago. We were fortunate enough to buy them all.

$0.25
