This catalog is dedicated to the memory of Zane Shaffer. He was a pioneer in this field who recently left us. A lot of you have likely crossed paths with him. He was, arguably, the largest dealer in our type of merchandise on the East Coast. His family sold us a large lot of his inventory with the hope that his items will find good homes with people who appreciate them. You will see a lot of them over the next year or so, and we will mark them as such. Here is a note from his family "Whether he was gettin' his road warrior on traveling to antique markets in places like Shupp's Grove or buying/selling online, he enjoyed every minute of it. He held a very special place in his heart for the people, the places, and 'the old things'. It's really good to know that his collection will reach all the folks that had the same passion about them. Big clump of violets on a dark background with fancy yellow old time lettering gives this one an amazing look. Click the picture to see a larger image. Circa 1940 or perhaps a little earlier. These are old unused stock that were found at the Perham Fruit Corporation in Yakima, Washington and are marked as such. Excellent unused condition.

Detailed image of a princess who bears a strong resemblance to Princess Elizabeth in the 1940s. These are unused old stock in great condition from "Sam Gothelf" in Lafayette, Louisiana and are marked as such.

We acquired these from a long time label dealer on the west coast that we bought out. Excellent unused condition.

This was a melon crate label that was unused in the 1950s. These came from "Jack Bros. and McBurney Inc." in "Brawley, California". They are unused old stock in excellent unused condition. These came from a large label dealer we bought out up in Washington State. Scarce label.

Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage 6 1/2" wide label says "Instant Sex Brand". From the 1960s. Colorful picture of a strutting cock. I know it's hard to believe, but these are for real. They were made during a time when the advertising focus of the day was that sex sells. They should sell like crazy in a retail environment.  The last one that sold on Ebay went for $18. They are unused new old stock from Bill Long Grower in Apopka, Florida. They are in excellent unused condition.

Vintage 10 3/4" wide circa 1940s On Rush Melons crate label. Vargas style pinup image. These are from the day when the idea of advertising was to catch your attention. The images often had no relation to the product. This was pretty risque stuff back then. Unused stock that was found at the F. H. Hogue Co. in Yuma, AZ. They have very light rippling if you look closely.

10" wide vintage evaporated milk label. Really nice stone litho image of a cow head with fancy old style print. These were found in a box under the stairs of an old cannery when it was being demolished. Scarce. Several types were found, but there weren't very many of these. Circa 1910s.

10" wide vintage evaporated milk label. Beautifull image of a cow head with fancy old style print. Copyright date marked on it is 1912, and they are probably from around that time period. They were found in a box under the stairs of an old cannery when it was being demolished.

Vintage 10 1/2" wide unused can label. The label is marked "The Story of Penrod by Booth Tarkington is Sold at all Book Stores. This Label is used by Permission.... Copyright 1914." The label pictures characters from the book including an airedale dog. Found at the Littlestown Canning Co., Inc., distributors in Littlestown, PA. Nice stone litho from around the 1920s. perhaps a little earlier. The picture shows peas.  All left are the same label in tomatoes. This is a nice old stone litho that you rarely see for less than $3 or $4.

They have a copyright date of 1922 on the bottom and are likely from around that era. These were found under the stairs of the building many years ago with some other varieties. There were not many of this one. These are from are in excellent unused condition. Marked United Milk Products Corporation.

The business burned back in the 1950s, and a box with labels was all that was salvaged. There never were a lot of them, and over time, they have gotten harder and harder to find. They are in excellent unused condition.

It pictures peas pouring out of an old container. Circa 1920s. Says "EX-EL-ENCE BRAND Wisconsin Selected Early June Peas Packed by Watertown Canning Co. Watertown, Wis.". They are unused old factory stock in excellent condition. We got these from the estate of a dealer in Wisconsin.

Vintage 8" wide embossed and gilded White Orchid inner cigar box label. Really detailed and beautiful image. Circa 1910s or earlier. Nice unused condition. This is a scarce one and retails in the $8 - $10 range.

#ZLSC045 - Group of 6 Rudolph Valentino Cigar Bands
You get 6 for $3 (that's 50¢ each). Embossed and gilded cigar band labels say "Rudolph Valentino Quality Cigar”. From the mid 1920’s when Rudolph Valentino was considered the ultimate screen lover. He was idolized by the female fans of the 1920's like Elvis was in the 1950’s. He died an untimely death in 1926 at only 31 years of age (from a perforated ulcer), which probably explains why these cigar band labels were never used. These have become very difficult to find.
