#ZLC455 - Early Large Version Sweet Patootie Pinup Crate Label

Vintage 9 1/2" tall Sweet Patootie California Vegetables crate label.  These are from around the 1920s and this would have been a bit scandalous on a store shelf back in the day. Shows a bare shouldered young lady with a coy look. Fantastic image. These came from long time dealer Lorie Cairns who recently sold us her inventory. Lorie was one of the pioneers in this business and we are very grateful to her. Excellent unused condition. They do have a stain mark on the reverse, but it doesn't show on the fronts.

I know it's hard to believe, but these are for real. They were made during a time when the advertising focus of the day was that sex sells. They should sell like crazy in a retail environment.  The last one that sold on Ebay went for $18. They are unused new old stock from Bill Long Grower in Apopka, Florida. They are in excellent unused condition.

Vintage 10 3/4" wide circa 1940s On Rush Melons crate label. Vargas style pinup image. These are from the day when the idea of advertising was to catch your attention. The images often had no relation to the product. This was pretty risque stuff back then. Unused stock that was found at the F. H. Hogue Co. in Yuma, AZ. They have very light rippling if you look closely.

Also marked "Perez Bros" "Crows Landing, California". Circa 1960. These came from long time dealer Lorie Cairns who recently sold us her inventory. 10" wide vintage evaporated milk label. Really nice stone litho image of a cow head with fancy old style print. These were found in a box under the stairs of an old cannery when it was being demolished. Scarce. Several types were found, but there weren't very many of these. Circa 1910s.

10" wide vintage evaporated milk label. Beautifull image of a cow head with fancy old style print. Copyright date marked on it is 1912, and they are probably from around that time period. They were found in a box under the stairs of an old cannery when it was being demolished.

Vintage 10 1/2" wide unused can label. The label is marked "The Story of Penrod by Booth Tarkington is Sold at all Book Stores. This Label is used by Permission.... Copyright 1914." The label pictures characters from the book including an airedale dog. Found at the Littlestown Canning Co., Inc., distributors in Littlestown, PA. Nice stone litho from around the 1920s. perhaps a little earlier. The picture shows peas.  All left are the same label in tomatoes. This is a nice old stone litho that you rarely see for less than $3 or $4.

#ZLCA221 - Little Joe Fresh Shelled Crowder Pea Label - Black Boy with Dog and Fishing Pole
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage 9 1/2" wide Little Joe Fresh Shelled Crowder Peas can label. These are from the Roney Canning Co. which was in Hohenwald, TN. The business burned back in the 1950s, and a box with labels was all that was salvaged. There never were a lot of them, and over time, they have gotten harder and harder to find. They are in excellent unused condition.

It pictures peas pouring out of an old container. Circa 1920s. Says "EX-EL-ENCE BRAND Wisconsin Selected Early June Peas Packed by Watertown Canning Co. Watertown, Wis.". They are unused old factory stock in excellent condition. We got these from the estate of a dealer in Wisconsin.

One of the scarcest labels in the Wayne label find and a pretty one. 1920s. Embossed and gilded. From Edgett-Burnham Company in Newark, New Jersey. Unused old stock in excellent unused condition.

#ZLCA284 - Early Scarce O'Keeffe's Shamrock Brand Tomatoes Can Label
Click the picture to see a much larger more detailed image. Vintage large 14 1/2" wide can label from around 1910. Says "O'Keeffe's Shamrock Brand Tomatoes" "M. O'Keeffe Boston, Mass." "These Goods are For Sale in all of O'Keeffe's 100 Branch Stores". Repeating Shamrock image and a large tomato pictured.They have no weight designation which was required by Federal Law in 1913, so they are older than that. We acquired these from the estate of Zane Shaffer who was one of the largest long time dealers on the east coast. Excellent unused condition. You can see a little age stain on the back, but it doesn't bleed through to the front.

#ZLCA295 - Iona Peas Can Label - The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. - Indian
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage 11 1/2" wide "Iona Brand Peas" can label. Nice Indian image from the early 1900s. We have another similar Iona label listed. As you can see in the picture, this is a pretty variation. They have a stone litho picture of peas on the vine and an Indian. Marked "The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. Jersey City, New Jersey" "Guaranteed by the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co., Inc. under the Food and Drugs Act June 30, 1906". They have no weight  markings and so were made between 1906 and 1910. They are in unused condition. We acquired these from a long time label dealer on the west coast that we bought out. Excellent unused condition.

They went on a very large 6lb 8oz can. These are from the WWII era and picture an Eagle, Battleship, and Plane in patriotic red, white, and blue. We acquired these from the estate of Zane Shaffer who was one of the largest long time dealers on the east coast. Excellent unused condition.

Vintage 8" wide embossed and gilded White Orchid inner cigar box label. Really detailed and beautiful image. Circa 1910s or earlier. Nice unused condition. This is a scarce one and retails in the $8 - $10 range.

#ZLSC045 - Group of 6 Rudolph Valentino Cigar Bands
You get 6 for $3 (that's 50¢ each). Embossed and gilded cigar band labels say "Rudolph Valentino Quality Cigar”. From the mid 1920’s when Rudolph Valentino was considered the ultimate screen lover. He was idolized by the female fans of the 1920's like Elvis was in the 1950’s. He died an untimely death in 1926 at only 31 years of age (from a perforated ulcer), which probably explains why these cigar band labels were never used. These have become very difficult to find.

These are mid to late 1960s, and say "Touchdown The Seasons Choice" "Pipco Fruit Inc. Paul Paul & Sons Fresno, California". Unused old factory stock in excellent condition. We acquired these from a long time label dealer on the west coast that we bought out. Excellent unused condition.
