This catalog is dedicated to the memory of Zane Shaffer. He was a pioneer in this field who recently left us. A lot of you have likely crossed paths with him. He was, arguably, the largest dealer in our type of merchandise on the East Coast. His family sold us a large lot of his inventory with the hope that his items will find good homes with people who appreciate them. You will see a lot of them over the next year or so, and we will mark them as such. Here is a note from his family "Whether he was gettin' his road warrior on traveling to antique markets in places like Shupp's Grove or buying/selling online, he enjoyed every minute of it. He held a very special place in his heart for the people, the places, and 'the old things'. It's really good to know that his collection will reach all the folks that had the same passion about them. Vintage circa 1920 soap label. 13 inches wide. Says it was for "Washing Automobile Tires, Walls, etc." Bright yellow, green and blue. The image of the mill takes up about half the label.  Marked Hall Chemical Co. These are really nice and this is a rare label.

Vintage colorful 9 3/4" wide Poor Boy Salad Sliced Beets can label. Nice picture of a farm boy with a straw hat. These are from the 1950s and are unused stock in excellent condition that was found at the Pine Grove Canning Company in St. Martinsvile, LA. 15oz size.

#ZLCA148 - Very Rare Large Saazer Bohemian Style Malt Syrup Can Label
Click on the image to see the incredible large image. Vintage very large 13 7/8" wide Saazer Brand Bohemian Style Malt Syrup can label that went on a 2 1/2 pound can. This is a very old rare label with a great image of a Bohemian girl carrying a basket of hops and other workers in the field. Circa 1910. It says "Pure Malt Syrup extracted from the choicest barley . It is highly nutritious and can be used to the greatest advantage as a liquid food for the aged, nursing mothers, children and infants. Easily digested, pleasant to take. Acts as a health builder. A trial will convince you. Distributed by MalVaz Extract Co. 3237 W. 26th Street Chicago Tel. Rockwell 0176. Excellent unused condition. You are not going to find these anywhere else.

Vintage rare 9 1/2" wide Lusterite Stove Enamel can label. Click the image to see the full image of the label. Circa 1910. Wonderful image of a period lady with her stoves. They say "Lusterite A Stove Enamel' "Makes your Stove Look like New". Says you painted on a thin coating with a brush and that it could be used on Iron Work and Automobiles too. The manufacturer was the "Right Polish Co. at 19 Jay St. New York". These are unused old stock in nice condition. We got these from the estate of the famous dealer and friend Bob Secrist.

Most are embossed and all are stone lithos with nice images on them.1920s. The  group includes Wayne Cut Waxed Beans, Wayne Tiny Lima Beans, Wayne Small Green Lima Beans, Wayne Spinach, Wayne Wrinkled Peas, Wayne Refuge Beans, Wayne Tomatoes, Faultless Yellow Beans, Wayne Golden Bantam Corn, Faultless Small Red Beets, Burnham Diced Carrots, Wayne Evergreen Corn, Faultless Peas, Winsom Tomatoes, and Arcadia Tomatoes currently. If we run out of a type we have others that are similar we can substitute. They are in excellent unused condition. You may find one or two with a tiny edge tear or something that we missed.

Fantastic old stone litho pictures a goddess with a crown holding a battery on one side and a light bulb on the other with cherubs on each side talking to each other on an early telephone. 1910s. Rare label from Olney & Floyd in Lee Center, Oneida, Co., New York. Unused old stock in excellent unused condition.

#ZLCA912 - Huge Marvel Rolled Oats Double Image Cannister Label
Click on the image to see the complete label. Vintage huge 18 1/4" wide Marvel Brand Rolled Oats Cannister label. These went on the same size and type of cannister as the larger Quaker Oats containers. It was a cereal product. Says "Marvel Brand Rolled Oats of the Finest Quality" etc. etc. Heavily gilded stone litho with a fantastic double image of a river flowing out of a heavily wooded mountain area. Circa 1920. Uncommon. From the Webster Grocer Co. in Danville, Illinois. Unused old stock labels in excellent unused condition.

They are from around the 1930s (They have a 1936 copyright date on them), and have a colorful picture the monk Junipero Serra holding up an olive with a monastery in the background. They are old stock from the V. R. Smith Olive Company in Lindsay, California.  They are in excellent unused condition.

#ZLS188 - Rare Diamond Rock Mineral Water Label - Early Ladwig & Shranck Milwaukee
(Click the picture to see a larger image) You guys are always asking for the rare and unusual.  Here's another you won't find anywhere else. Vintage 4 1/4" wide Diamond Rock Mineral Water bottle label. These are very early. Circa 1880 or older. The word "Water" is spelled out with rocks with a spring coming from the top of them. They say "Diamond Rock Mineral Water" "Double Carbonated" "The Gem of Table Waters". They are also marked "This bottle Should Be Laid On it's Side" which was common for early carbonated beverages. In small letters at the bottom is the "Ladwig & Schranck" mark. Ladwig and Shranck were early beverage makes in Milwaukee. Some of their stoneware jugs are very early. These are in excellent unused condition for their age. From the estate of long time dealer and friend Bob Secrist. I believe Bob had the only examples of these ever found. There was a small stack of them, so we have the priced very reasonably for what they are.
