This catalog is dedicated to the memory of Zane Shaffer. He was a pioneer in this field who recently left us. A lot of you have likely crossed paths with him. He was, arguably, the largest dealer in our type of merchandise on the East Coast. His family sold us a large lot of his inventory with the hope that his items will find good homes with people who appreciate them. You will see a lot of them over the next year or so, and we will mark them as such. Here is a note from his family "Whether he was gettin' his road warrior on traveling to antique markets in places like Shupp's Grove or buying/selling online, he enjoyed every minute of it. He held a very special place in his heart for the people, the places, and 'the old things'. It's really good to know that his collection will reach all the folks that had the same passion about them. #TY570 - Miniature Celluloid Toy Elephant
Vintage 1 1/4" long hand painted celluloid elephant charm/toy. Embossed "Japan". These are in an old rice paper box which is from around the late 1940s. Excellent unused condition. We haven't run these in years. They are hard to find.

#TY572 - Even Older Version of the Fortune Teller Miracle Fish Japan - As low as 50¢ each
Vintage 3 1/2" wide package contains another package that pictures the fish. Inside is a cellophane fish. Direction on the reverse of the package explain that you lay it on your hand. The heat of your hand made it move. Says "Moving head Jealousy" "Curling sides Fickle" "Curls up Entirely Passionate" etc. We have had various versions of this over the years and this is the oldest one we found. Circa 1950. The outer package will show some typical aging, but the illustrated fish package inside is in perfect condition. Unsold old store stock we recently recovered from a warehouse in Northeast Ohio.

#TY626 - Toy Binoculars in Header Bag
Vintage 2 1/2" wide plastic dimestore toy binoculars with an adjustment wheel. You turned the wheel for distance adjustment. Colors vary. Header bag pictures a kid watching sailboats on the water through them. Unsold old circa 1960 store stock in excellent condition. We recently uncovered these in an old warehouse in northern Ohio.

#TY631 - Pair of Carded Tin Sheriff and Special Police Badges - Made in Japan
You get the pair for $3.50 (that's $1.75 each). Vintage 2 1/4" tall embossed tin sheriff badges on display cards. Marked "Made in Japan". One is diecut in a star shape and says "Deputy Sheriff". The other is diecut in a badge shape and says "Special Police". They have sharp pins in the back, so be careful.  These are old 1950s stock that we got from a friend who is retiring. Excellent unused old store stock. The cards have minor typical waviness.

#TY642 - Shocking Letter Gag - Made in Japan - As low as $1 each
Click the picture to see a large detailed image. Vintage 5" wide sealed paper envelope says "Shocking Letter" "Shocking Letter Enclosed with Directions" "Made in Japan". Inside it is a small unused envelope with a rubber band powered windup cardboard clown in it. The rubber bands hardened years ago and no longer work. Instructions say "wind up about 20 times fold over and give to your friends". Unsold old 1950s store stock that we recently recovered from a warehouse in Northeast Ohio. Excellent condition. This type of humor harkens back to a time when we were more easily entertained.

#TY715 - Group of 3 Different Colored Large Toy Horses
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. You get all 3 for $2.40 (that's 80¢ each). Vintage larger 4 3/4" wide rubbery plastic horses. Circa 1960. You will get a white one, a brown one, and a black one. They all have good detail. We discovered these in the warehouse of an old store up in northern Ohio. They are unsold old store stock in never seen the light of day condition.

#TY775 - Rare Big Little Coloring Book - Little Elephant
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage 8" tall coloring book. Cover pictures the little elephant. Inside has the little elephant and other animals to color. Back is marked "A Big Little Coloring Book". The front is marked "Saalfield ArtCraft". 24 pages of coloring fun. This was one of a series of coloring books that were produced by the famous "Big Little" company from the mid 1950s up to around 1960. At 8" tall, in keeping with the Big Little tradition, they are smaller than a standard coloring book. They are unusual and rare. We found these up in a store in northern Ohio. Our eyes bugged out when we opened a box and found these. Unused old stock in excellent condition. The staples are starting to show some aging.

#TY780 - Magic Mystic Beads Trick - As low as $1 each
Vintage 5" tall brightly colored package with the Magic Mystery Beads and Instructions inside. Says "Magic Mystic Beads" "Make the beads pass through the strings". Simple to perform. These are from the early 1960s, and so older than child warning labels. Out of an unopened case that was in dry storage. They are in perfect condition. We recentlyfound these in a warehouse up in Northern Ohio.

#TY783 - Full Color Foil Stamped Unused Ticket for David Copperfield in Russia 1997 - As low as $3 each
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage 1997 unused ticket for a David Copperfield performance in Russia. They are foil stamped, full color and have good detail. The performances were sold out. This is from a small stack that we found at OTTO (manufacturer) that had never been shipped or therefore used. They bear an OTTO mark on the reverse. These are uncommon and in nice unused condition.

#TY796 - Larger pre war Japan Celluloid String Tie Football Charm with Chalk Center
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage larger 1 1/8" long celluloid football embossed Japan in the celluloid. The centers are solid chalk and they have a string tied to them. These are uncommon. This dates them to the 1930s. They are very dusty, but wipe them off and they are nice. Excellent unused condition. We acquired these from the estate of Zane Shaffer who was one of the largest country store dealers on the East Coast.

#ZBOT131 - Blumer's World Champion Salve Label for a Milk Glass Jar
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage 7" wide "Dr. Blumer's Worlds Champion Salve" label. Nice old image of Dr. Blumer on one side and the "Wise Old Owl" on the other. Says it "beats all for healing" "sores, cuts, burns  chapped hands, pimples, abcesses, ulcers". They are from around 1900 and went on a milk glass jar. Stick one of these on an old milk glass jar and watch it sell. Excellent unused condition. Found at the factory many years ago.

#ZBOT146 - New England Vermont Maple Sap Syrup Label
Vintage 3 3/8" tall New England Vermont Syrup label that went on a 1 quart tin. These are circa 1910s and have a really pretty image of a New England farmhouse with cows and a horse drawn wagon. They are marked "New England Maple Syrup Co. Boston, Mass.", and are very uncommon. They all have some curling or minor rippling, but will flatten out well on a bottle or tin. These came from the estate of famed dealer and friend Bob Secrist.

Vintage 2" tall Dr. Lynas "Creme Gloria" bottle label. Says "Creme Gloria a Greaseless Vanishing Cream for the Skin" "Dr. J. B. Lynas & Son Logansport, Indiana". These are beautiful heavily gilded early stone lithos. Circa 1900 and super colorful. These have the look. Put them on a milk glass jare and watch them sell. Unused stock from the old Lynas warehouse in Logansport, IN. This is one of the scarcer Lynas labels. We got them from the estate friend and famous collector Bob Secrist.

Says "Kle-nup The Oil Man's Friend" "Cleans the Dirty Knee of the Barefooted Boy as well as the Calloused Hands of the Oil Field Worker". Super colorful. Circa 1910s. These came from long time dealer Lorie Cairns who recently sold us her inventory. Lorie was one of the pioneers in this business, and we are thrilled to share her finds from years ago with you. #ZBOT427.5 - Group of 20 Different Blumers Flavoring Extract Bottle Labels

I highly recommend you look at the larger image to see all of them. All sorts of different flavors. They are really something. Circa 1900/1910. Most are about 4" - 5" tall. We have had many blumers boxes from the original find many years ago, but this is the first group of the labels we have ever seen. All are marked Blumers or Lincoln Chemical (same company) Chicago, Illinois. They are great for putting on bottles. Different size and colors. We acquired these from long time dealer Lorie Cairns who recently sold us her inventory. Lorie was one of the pioneers in this business and we are very grateful to her. Excellent unused condition.

#ZLB047 - No. 10 Evans Broom Label - Eagle
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage uncommon 5 1/4" tall "No. 10 Evans Industrial Supply" broom label. Image of an eagle carrying a broom through the sky. Not real common. These wrapped around a broom handle. Broom companies had a tough time in the 1930s and 40s when vacuum cleaners were mass produced and no longer an expensive luxury item. A lot of broom companies went out of business and the labels turn up in the old buildings occasionally. Unused old stock in excellent condition. Circa 1940s. We acquired these from a long time label dealer on the west coast that we bought out. Excellent unused condition.

These are gilded and marked copyright 1935 in small print on the bottom right.  They also have the Internal Revenue Tax Paid mark on them  The Atlas Brewing Company was in Chicago, IL and they are marked as such.  Nice unused condition.

"Copyright 1939".  The actual date is more likely from the 1950s as they have no IRTP mark on them.  They came from long time dealer Lorie Cairns who recently sold us her inventory.
