This catalog is dedicated to the memory of Zane Shaffer. He was a pioneer in this field who recently left us. A lot of you have likely crossed paths with him. He was, arguably, the largest dealer in our type of merchandise on the East Coast. His family sold us a large lot of his inventory with the hope that his items will find good homes with people who appreciate them. You will see a lot of them over the next year or so, and we will mark them as such. Here is a note from his family "Whether he was gettin' his road warrior on traveling to antique markets in places like Shupp's Grove or buying/selling online, he enjoyed every minute of it. He held a very special place in his heart for the people, the places, and 'the old things'. It's really good to know that his collection will reach all the folks that had the same passion about them. We truly hope you enjoy them as much as he did."

#BEADSC0079 - Brass Peace Sign Charm
Vintage 3/8" tall brass peace charm with charm loop. These are solid metal old stock in excellent condition. They came from a place that sold beads to make bracelets and things and are from around the late 1960s.
$0.25

#BEADSC0247 - Copper Plated Wheelbarrow Charm with Charm Loop
Vintage 1 1/8" wide copper coated wheelbarrow charm. The handle has a charm loop on it. These are old store stock from the late 1940s in unused condition. Steel charms with copper plating were mostly made right after WWII when the price of these metals was very cheap. The price escalated rapidly between 1946 and 1950 and almost all of the charm makers went over to plastic. These are U.S. made.

We picked these up on our recent trip. We returned with over 100 catalog items! We found two separate warehouses loaded with beads, cameos, cabochons, charms, and other stuff that went as far back as the early 1900s.

$0.50

#BEADSC0249 - Lead Deer Charm with Loop
Vintage 3/4" wide lead deer charm from the 1950s. Lead charms are very rare as lead bends and breaks easily. A lot of the ones that did survive got thrown away because of the danger of lead to children who might put these in their mouth (consider yourself warned!). In all these years these are the only examples of lead charms we have ever found! At first I thought they were pot metal, but the legs can be bent!

We picked these up on our recent trip. We returned with over 100 catalog items! We found two separate warehouses loaded with beads, cameos, cabochons, charms, and other stuff that went as far back as the early 1900s.

$0.25

#BEADSC0271 - Solid Copper Covered Wagon Charm

Vintage 6 3/4" tall Coca Cola Dry Server with a picture of a red circle that says "Every Bottle Refreshes" "Drink Coca Cola" "Dri-Hand Bottle Protector" "Mundelein, Illinois. This is also called the Coca Cola Button Logo. These are paper sleeves that were dispensed from old Coke machines. The refrigeration in the old machines made the bottles sweat, so you put the bottle in one of these sleeves to keep them dry. Some people call them bottle bags, but the are really sleeves. This is the very last type of sleeve that Coca Cola made and are not real common. They were made in the 1940s.  By the 40s, the machines were updated so that the bottles didn't get wet when the weather was hot anymore.  These are in exceptional condition. #CH326-01 - Roy Rogers "Don't Fence Me In" Movie Poster Broadside
Vintage 13" tall paper movie poster/broadside from the Roy Rogers 1945 "Don't Fence Me In" movie. The movie also featured Gabby Hayes and Dale Evans who are pictured along with Roy. Please click the picture to see a more detailed image. The song was number one on the charts and put Roy Rogers on the map. These are nice. Back in the day, when a new movie was going to play at the local theatre, there would be a guy who would run around town tacking these things on bulletin boards, telephone poles, fence posts, or anyplace else where they might be seen. Because most were outdoors, few have survived. Some will have small edge tears or roughness, but this is true of all paper movie broadsides, and they can easily be trimmed for framing. Although, a few small imperfections kind of adds to the look with these. Colors vary. We got them from the estate of famous dealer and friend Bob Secrist. He found them in the storage area of an old theatre up in Northeast Ohio.
