This catalog is dedicated to the memory of Zane Shaffer. He was a pioneer in this field who recently left us. A lot of you have likely crossed paths with him. He was, arguably, the largest dealer in our type of merchandise on the East Coast. His family sold us a large lot of his inventory with the hope that his items will find good homes with people who appreciate them. You will see a lot of them over the next year or so, and we will mark them as such. Here is a note from his family "Whether he was gettin' his road warrior on traveling to antique markets in places like Shupp's Grove or buying/selling online, he enjoyed every minute of it. He held a very special place in his heart for the people, the places, and 'the old things'. It's really good to know that his collection will reach all the folks that had the same passion about them. #ZLC322 - Huge Rare 1800s Quabaug Springs Bottle Crate Label - Quack Medicine Claims
(Click the picture to see a larger image) Vintage huge 12 1/4" wide bottle crate label from the late 1800s. Says "Quabaug Pure Spring Water" "Highly Recommended for Indigestion, Dyspepsia, La Grippe, Rheumatism, Insomnia, Malaria, Gravel, and all troubles of the kidneys and bladder" "Endorsed and prescribed by the leading physicians" "$1000 reward for the conviction of any person refilling bottles bearing our trade-mark, or for selling as Quabaug Spring Water and water not from the Quabaug Spring". Has a picture of Indian Chief "King Philip" who adopted that as his English name. These are very rare and in excellent unused condition. From the estate of long time dealer and friend Bob Secrist.

These labels are unused stock that was found in the long closed factory in Newark, New York many years ago. I found a printers inspection tag between some of the labels that is dated April of 1927. This one is the 1 pound 13 ounce size. Excellent condition.

I see people listing these on Ebay and saying they are from all sorts of time periods. They are from the 1920s. There was a printers slip in the bundle we have that was dated 1925. Really nice image of a boat on a lake.
