This catalog is dedicated to the memory of Zane Shaffer. He was a pioneer in this field who recently left us. A lot of you have likely crossed paths with him. He was, arguably, the largest dealer in our type of merchandise on the East Coast. His family sold us a large lot of his inventory with the hope that his items will find good homes with people who appreciate them. You will see a lot of them over the next year or so, and we will mark them as such. Here is a note from his family "Whether he was gettin' his road warrior on traveling to antique markets in places like Shupp's Grove or buying/selling online, he enjoyed every minute of it. He held a very special place in his heart for the people, the places, and 'the old things'. It's really good to know that his collection will reach all the folks that had the same passion about them. We truly hope you enjoy them as much as he did."

#ZBOT185 - Appleblossom Honey and Fruit Farm Honey Can/Tin Label

Vintage 5" wide gilded and lacquered label pictures clover flowers with bees on the sides and says "Pure Extracted Honey Produced by Appleblossom Honey and Fruit Farm Robert B. Hartman Sussex, Wisconsin". These went on a honey can/tin. They are from around the 1930s and came from the estate of a dealer in Wisconsin. Uncommon. Excellent unused condition.

#ZBOT201 - Group of 5 Fancy Startup's Chocolate Cherries Box Seal Labels
Click the image to see a larger more detailed image. You get 5 for $1 (that's 20¢ each). Vintage 2" diameter heavily embossed and gilded box label. Gummed reverse. Says "Startup's Chocolate Cherries". The box they were in says it was a seal that went on a box of chocolates. Very colorful and nice. Circa 1920. They are old unused factory stock that we acquired these from a long time label dealer on the west coast that we bought out. Excellent unused condition.

#ZBOT412 - Dr. Lynas Queen Beauty Toilet Soap Bar Wrapper Label - Type 2 (Lady in Yellow Hat) - As low as 75¢

Amazingly detailed embossed stone litho image of a victorian lady in a yellow hat. These look great wrapped around a 3" wide bar of soap. Retail is 10 bucks or more if you take the time. They say "Dr. Lynas Queen  Beauty Toilet Soap" "Dr. J. B. Lynas & Son Logansport, Ind." "Guaranteed by the Food and Drug Act June 30th, 1906" "This soap is especially prepared for women who look after the care of their complexions. All women who wish to be beautiful and retain their beauty should add this pure soap to their list of toilet articles". You rarely see these in this kind of condition. They are unused factory stock from back in the day and are near perfect. We got these from the estate of friend and dealer Bob Secrist.

#ZLB040 - Daisy Brand Broom Label
Vintage 4 1/4" tall "Daisy" broom label. Also marked "U.S.A.". Nice image of the maid sweeping. These wrapped around a broom handle. Broom companies had a tough time in the 1930s and 40s when vacuum cleaners were mass produced and no longer an expensive luxury item. A lot of broom companies went out of business and the labels turn up in the old buildings occasionally. Unused old stock in nice condition. Circa 1930s. We got these from the estate of friend and famous dealer and collector Bob Secrist.

They picture a very detailed head of a race horse bursting through a sign. These came from long time dealer Lorie Cairns who recently sold us her inventory. They are from around 1950 and have a colorful picture of a juicy cantaloupe. They are old stock from the Herco Sales Co. in El Centro, California.  They are in excellent unused condition.

#ZLCA152 - Very Rare Very Early Electric Brand Succotash Can Label
Click on the image to see the incredible large image. Vintage 11 1/2" wide label.  These are unused old stock made by Olney & Floyd In Westernville, New York. They have an incredible image of a Goddess holding up a light with electricity flowing from a batter in her other hand. These are one of the oldest Olney and Floyd labels that were made. They have no weight marking which was required by law around 1906, and are from the 1890s.  This is an incredibly beautiful stone litho. It might have taken a craftsmen three or four months to make the plates to produce this label. Labels this old in this kind of condition are very hard to find and this is a beauty. Excellent unused condition.

It has a fantastically colorful lacquered stone litho image of cut apples with General Wayne in the middle. This is a real eye catcher. Circa 1920s. Says "Wayne Apple Sauce" "Edgett-Burnham Company. Newark, New York". They are unused old factory stock in excellent shape. We got these from the estate of a dealer in Wisconsin.

They came from the Silver Spring Company in Madison, Wisconsin and are marked as such. They bottled for the General Beverage Company which was also in Madison, Wisconsin. Circa 1930 or older. These are in excellent unused condition.
