This catalog is dedicated to the memory of Zane Shaffer. He was a pioneer in this field who recently left us. A lot of you have likely crossed paths with him. He was, arguably, the largest dealer in our type of merchandise on the East Coast. His family sold us a large lot of his inventory with the hope that his items will find good homes with people who appreciate them. You will see a lot of them over the next year or so, and we will mark them as such. Here is a note from his family "Whether he was gettin' his road warrior on traveling to antique markets in places like Shupp's Grove or buying/selling online, he enjoyed every minute of it. He held a very special place in his heart for the people, the places, and 'the old things'. It's really good to know that his collection will reach all the folks that had the same passion about them. We truly hope you enjoy them as much as he did."

#PL280 - Re-Elect the President Pin - Nixon around the Rim
Vintage 1 1/4" diameter red, white and blue pinback from the 1972 election. Says "Re-elect the President" on the front and "Paid for by Finance Comm. for the Re-elect of Pres. Nixon" around the rim. These have a few scuff from getting moved around in the box but were never used.

#PL305 - 1964 John F. Kennedy Half Dollar Holder
Vintage 6" tall card with thick Kennedy coin holder. These were produced in 1964 for the newly minted 1964 Kennedy half dollar. This was right after the 1963 assassination when people were collecting all things kennedy. It says "John F. Kennedy Half Dollar Holder" "Air Tight to Keep Coin Brilliant for Years to Come" "Gold Embossed". Unsold old store stock in excellent unused condition.

#PL319 - Blue and White 1st Time Voter for McGovern Presidential Campaign Pinback Button - As low as 75¢ each

Side says "copyright 1972 votes unlimited, Ferndale, NY". These are unused old stock in excellent condition. The white lines you see at the top of the picture are glare.

#PL333 - 1984 Reagan Bush Campaign Brochure
Click the image to see a larger more detailed picture. Vintage 7 1/2" tall full color 6 panel brochure folds out to 11" wide. These are uncommon and in excellent unused condition. Item from the 1984 Reagan Bush campaign. The outside has a picture of Reagan at a podium speaking and says "Reagan Bush 84" "President Reagan and Ethnic Americans" "America is too great for small dreams". The inside tells all about Reagan and his record on various things. Excellent unused condition. Scarce one.

#SIGN047 - Large Florida Fresh Juice Store Display Sign
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage colorful large 14" tall cardboard sign that went in the front of a display of oranges. The reverse says "Florida Oranges They're the Sweetest". They are from the 1950s and are in excellent condition. They came from the basement of a large store in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania called Trimble's. They got signs with their deliveries and threw them in piles in the basement. One of our long time customers rescued these (thank's Bob) and a number of others.

#SIGN125 - Voigt's Royal Patent Flour Paper Window Sign

Vintage 11" wide Voigt's Royal Patent sign. Says "Voigt's Royal Patent Flour Voigt Milling Co. Grand Rapids, Mich". These are paper window signs they used to tape up in the front of a store. Circa 1930s and in excellent unused condition. They came from the estate of the famous dealer and friend, Bob Secrist.


#SIGN186 - Tangelos From Florida Grocery Store Sign

Reverse says "Tangelos from Florida" also. Found in the basement of an old grocery in Pennsyvania. Old stock in excellent condition.

#SIGN210 - Small Clover Farm Carboard Produce Sign

These are circa 1950 and are the small signs you would have seen in the produce aisle. We acquired these from the estate of Zane Shaffer who was one of the largest country store dealers on the East Coast. Excellent unused condition. 

#SOZ036 -  Group of 12 Dr. Pepper Carton Inserts

#SOZ037 -  Pair of Squirt Glow-Ball Advertising Napkins

Pictures a round headed Squirt guy and a weight lifter and and says "Squirt and Whiskey" and "Glow-Ball". Dated 1954 on the back. Unused old stock in great condition. These are uncommon.

#SOZ061  - Saratoga Vichy Soda Bottle Hanger
Vintage 6" tall thin cardboard advertising bottle hanger for Saratoga Vichy. They have a punch out hold on the top so they could be hung on a bottle. They say "Free King Size 12 oz carton with the purchase of any 12 oz carton". These are old soda plant stock from around the 1950s and have the "plus deposit" mark on them.

#SOZ082 - Large Big Ben's Birch Beer Megaphone Container
Vintage 9 3/4" tall waxed Big Ben's Birch beer container. These were made so the bottoms could be popped out after use, and they could be used as megaphones. They say "Big Ben's BIrch Beer Keep Chilled" "Catawissa Bottling Company Catawissa, PA.". They come with milk bottle style caps in them that says Big Ben's. These were found at the plant many years ago. Circa 1950. Excellent unused condition. They came from the estate of the famous dealer and friend Bob Secrist.

#SP022 - MIller High Life Menu Sheet
Vintage 10" tall Miller High Life Beer Menu Sheet. It says "The finest label...on any table" which was the Miller logo of the late 1950s. This is old restaurant stock. Miller would give out sheets like this to restaurants and bars who would print their menu on them. Very nice letterhead in great condition.

#SP060 - Busch Beer Coaster with Cowboy with Saddle and Rope
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage 3 1/4" square cardboard Busch Beer coaster. One side pictures a cowboy carrying his saddle with a rope on his shoulder. Says  "Buschhh!... with a taste as smooth as its name". The opposite side pictures mountains and says "Busch Born of Natural Ingredients Smooth, Refreshing Beer". These are from around 1980 and in excellent unused condition. We got these from the basement of a closed tavern locally.

#TOP060 - Union Workman Free Sample Tobacco Bag
Vintage 7" thick paper free sample tobacco bags. These are old unused Scotten Dillon Company stock from the 1930s or earlier. Both sides are pictured. One side says "Union Workman Large Size Chewing Tobacco Scotten, Dillon Detroit". The other side says "Free Sample" "Not to be Sold. Excellent condition.

#TY453 - Groups of 10 Plastic Sheriff Dimestore Badges
You get 10 for $1 (that's 10¢ each). Vintage 1 3/4" tall plastic sheriff badges. These are made of a pliable type of plastic that you can bend to straighten them out. They have a little clip molded on the back so you can wear them. These are dimestore or fish pond toys. Circa 1960s. They are in excellent condition and are part of our recent find at our favorite toy store in Kentucky.

#TY739 - Eight Different Cutout Jack Armstrong Tru-Flite Airplanes - 1960s Version
You get 8 different planes for $4 (that's 50¢ each) Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage cardboard planes including American Airacobra, Jap Zero, Japanese Aichi T99-2 Dive Bomber, Russian Stormovick, Jap Nakajima 01, Curtis p-40 Flying Tiger, Russian Yak 1-26, and the American Thunderbolt.  These were originally issued by General Mills in 1944 as cereal giveaways. They were reintroduced by Saf-Flite in 1966 and made into the 1970s. The airplane body and wings are printed on separate 10 1/4" wide pieces of cardboard. Unused old stock in excellent unused condition.

#ZBOT161 - Dr. Blumer's Shampoo Jelly Label
Vintage 4 3/4" wide "Dr. Blumer's Shampoo Jelly" label. Nice old image of Dr. Blumer on one side. Says it "For Dandruff and Making the Hair Soft and Fluffy". They are from around 1900 and went on a glass jar. Stick one of these on an old glass jar and watch it sell. Excellent unused condition. Found at the factory many years ago.

#ZBOT166 - Lavendar Water for the Toilet Barber Bottle Label - As low as 50¢ each
Vintage large 4 1/4" tall Lavendar Water for the Toilet Barber bottle label. Click the picture to see a larger picture of these spectacular stone litho labels. They are deeply embossed and say "Lavendar Water for the Toilet" "Prepared by Phil Eisemann Lancaster, PA". These were found many years ago in Eisemann storage. Eisemann was one of the premier barber preparation suppliers in the early 1900s.  These are circa 1910 and in excellent unused condition. They look fantastic on an old bottle.

#ZBOT201 - Group of 5 Fancy Startup's Chocolate Cherries Box Seal Labels
Click the image to see a larger more detailed image. You get 5 for $1 (that's 20¢ each). Vintage 2" diameter heavily embossed and gilded box label. Gummed reverse. Says "Startup's Chocolate Cherries". The box they were in says it was a seal that went on a box of chocolates. Very colorful and nice. Circa 1920. They are old unused factory stock that we acquired these from a long time label dealer on the west coast that we bought out. Excellent unused condition.

#ZBOT412 - Dr. Lynas Queen Beauty Toilet Soap Bar Wrapper Label - Type 2 (Lady in Yellow Hat) - As low as 75¢

Amazingly detailed embossed stone litho image of a victorian lady in a yellow hat. These look great wrapped around a 3" wide bar of soap. Retail is 10 bucks or more if you take the time. They say "Dr. Lynas Queen  Beauty Toilet Soap" "Dr. J. B. Lynas & Son Logansport, Ind." "Guaranteed by the Food and Drug Act June 30th, 1906" "This soap is especially prepared for women who look after the care of their complexions. All women who wish to be beautiful and retain their beauty should add this pure soap to their list of toilet articles". You rarely see these in this kind of condition. They are unused factory stock from back in the day and are near perfect. We got these from the estate of friend and dealer Bob Secrist.

#ZLB040 - Daisy Brand Broom Label
Vintage 4 1/4" tall "Daisy" broom label. Also marked "U.S.A.". Nice image of the maid sweeping. These wrapped around a broom handle. Broom companies had a tough time in the 1930s and 40s when vacuum cleaners were mass produced and no longer an expensive luxury item. A lot of broom companies went out of business and the labels turn up in the old buildings occasionally. Unused old stock in nice condition. Circa 1930s. We got these from the estate of friend and famous dealer and collector Bob Secrist.
