This catalog is dedicated to the memory of Zane Shaffer. He was a pioneer in this field who recently left us. A lot of you have likely crossed paths with him. He was, arguably, the largest dealer in our type of merchandise on the East Coast. His family sold us a large lot of his inventory with the hope that his items will find good homes with people who appreciate them. You will see a lot of them over the next year or so, and we will mark them as such. Here is a note from his family "Whether he was gettin' his road warrior on traveling to antique markets in places like Shupp's Grove or buying/selling online, he enjoyed every minute of it. He held a very special place in his heart for the people, the places, and 'the old things'. It's really good to know that his collection will reach all the folks that had the same passion about them. We truly hope you enjoy them as much as he did."

#ZLCA136 - Very Rare Kirk Tomatoes Can Label with Indian
Vintage colorful 11 1/2" wide Kirk stone litho tomatoes label from the 1920s. These went on a 1lb 3 oz can. These are the only example known! I just picked them up as part of a haul from a closed tourist ghost town in Northern, Ohio. They are unused old stock that the ghost town owner bought from the David Kirk Sons Co. Wholesale Grocery in Findlay, Ohio a long time ago. He had used a few to put on cans that he set around the ghost town. Brilliant colors and unused condition.  Once these are gone, there are no more anywhere and there aren't that many. Click on the image to see the large detailed picture. These are nice.

Click on the image to see the incredible large image. Vintage 11 1/2" wide Olney & Floyd Butterfly Brand Refugee Beans label. These go back to the late 1800s and are considered some of the most beautiful labels of any type ever made. They are heavily embossed and gilded with butterflies everywhere. This was a very complicated label to make back in the day as it is stone litho in many colors and each color had to be made on a separate plate.  It might have take a craftsmen three or four months to make the plates to produce this label. There is no weight marking on it, which was required by law by around 1906. Labels this old are very very rare and hard to find. Excellent unused condition.

Vintage 14" wide National League Hand Made Perfectos Cigar Can Label. This is an interesting label. My friend Steve Litchford found these at the plant in Indiana many years ago.
