These are very handy. They will fit many sizes of standard cork top ink bottles and they look great on them. They all came out of the Diamond Ink warehouse in Milwaukee. All are used and dated in the 1920s. Neat image on check as shown in picture. Nice shape. $0.35 #ZLCA039 - Beautiful Early Pecan Valley Coffee Label 14 1/4" wide vintage circa 1920s label. Went on a one pound can. Nice shape. Heavy gilding. Unused old stock found in storage many years ago. This company started selling coffee in 1907 under the Walker-Smith Company name (that's the one on the label). They still do business, but are now just called Pecan Valley Coffee. Headquarters are still in Brownwood, Texas where they proudly display many of their old labels and coffee items. $3.50 #ZLCA045 - Clover Valley Evaporated Milk Label Vintage 9 7/8" wide Clover Valley Brand 1 pound Evaporated Milk label. Phenomenal label with cows in a field and an eagle pictured. A lot of detail. Stone litho image. Very deep and vibrant colors. These were found with the Roseco labels above and are from around the 1920s. They are an amazing find. You'll be hard pressed to find any nicer dairy related labels anywhere at any price. We bought out all of only the very best labels that were found and they are real doozies! $1.50 #CS041 - Mirabeau Cocoa Bath Toilet Soap Box Vintage 1920s Mirabeau Soap Box. 3 1/2" tall. These are old factory stock that were never filled. They are in excellent condition and will be folded flat. Found at the long abandoned Lincoln Chemical Works in Chicago, IL. $1.00 #SOZ019 - Rochelle Club Two Sided Fan Hanger Sign Vintage 10 1/2" tall cardboard fan hanger sign. Has a hole punched in the top to tie a string on. Same picture on both sides. The other side is Ivory and blue colored. These date back to the time before air conditioners became widespread and ceiling fans were in almost every store and establishment. Fan Hangers were a common type of advertisement back then. They were tied to the string of a store ceiling fan, and flapped around from the fan movement drawing attention to the advertisement on them. These date to around the 1920s. Excellent unused condition. Found at the old Rochelle Club Beverage Corp. in Mt. Vernon, NY many years ago. $2.50 #CS093 - Dr. Lynas Corn Remedy Box Vintage 2 3/4" tall cardboard Dr. Lynas Corn Remedy box. Remedies are very collectible. On the side, it says "Kure your Korns has been known as an Old Reliable Corn Remedy for many years past". Unused old stock from the long closed Dr. J. B. Lynas & Son warehouse in Logansport, IN. They were never used and are empty. Circa 1920s. Excellent condition. Shipped folded flat. $1.00 #ZBOT054 - Mutton Tallow Jar Label Vintage 2 1/2" wide label picturing a sheep. Says Roosa and Ratliff Chemical Co. "Contains mutton tallow, petrolatum,carbolic acid, camphor" "25¢". I found these about 10 years ago when they were closing the Roosa and Ratliff Company here in the Cincinnati area. At the time, I found some of the tins which were beautiful, but they are long gone. These labels went on small milk glass jars and look great on one if you have one sitting around. They are very uncommon as that batch was the only ones ever found. $0.50 #DA033 - Group of 5 Myers Sweet Rose Butter Wrappers - "Tuberculin Tested" You get 5 for $1.00 (that's 20¢ each). Vintage 11" tall Myers Sweet Rose Butter wrappers. Marked "Made of cream from officially accredited tuberculin tested areas". This sort of accreditation was done in the 1920s and 30s, so these are from that time period. This was done because a study published in 1924 by eminent scientists of the day showed that 25% - 77% of the cows tested in the Chicago area tested positive for tuberculosis. They concluded that pasteurization did not kill the tuberculosis spore and that "that milk, even though pasteurized, should be obtained only from cows free from tuberculosis, and that pasteurization and tuberculin testing of dairy cattle should go forward". Cattle that tested positive were slaughtered and by the late 1930s tuberculosis was pretty much gone from the cattle population. During the 1920s and 30s, if you wanted to sell dairy products, you needed to let people know that it only came from tuberculosis free cows. These are in excellent unused condition and an interesting piece of history. $1.00 #ZLCA056 - Templar Sweet Peas Can Label Vintage 11" wide Templar Sweet Peas can label. Beautiful label with incredible colors. Pictures a knight in armor on a horse . Gilded stone litho. Printer's mark shows it was made in 1934. Unused stock from W. R.Roach & Co. in Grand Rapids, MI. $1.50 #HH044 - Scarce Kentucky Field Pumpkin Card Seed Packet Vintage Kentucky Field Pumpkin Card Seed Co. seed packet. These were found in a barn in storage in upstate New York where they had been sitting unfilled since around 1920. This particular one is scarce and in high demand by Halloween collectors. It will bring $5 - $6 retail. $2.00 #ZLSC045 - Group of 6 Rudolph Valentino Cigar Bands You get 6 for $3 (that's 50¢ each). Embossed and gilded cigar band labels say “Rudolph Valentino Quality Cigar”. From the mid 1920’s when Rudolph Valentino was considered the ultimate screen lover. He was idolized by the female fans of the 1920's like Elvis was in the 1950’s. He died an untimely death in 1926 at only 31 years of age (from a perforated ulcer), which probably explains why these cigar band labels were never used. These have become very difficult to find. $3.00 #ZBOT053 - Queen Isabella Pure Apple Cider Label Vintage 4 3/4" wide colorful label picturing Queen Isabella. These are in excellent condition, dated 1924, and from around that time period. Recipes on each side of the label for English Wassel and Old Fashioned Doughnuts. These are unused stock that was found in the Utt Juice Company warehouse in Justin, CA. They look great on an old bottle. $0.50 #ZLSC039 - Red Tips Cigar Label Vintage 8 1/2" wide inner cigar box label. Heavily embossed and gilded. Nice horse image. Marked Consolidated Lithographing Corporation, Brooklyn, New York. Unused stock in nice condition. Circa 1920s. $1.00 #ZBOT050 - Universal Bitter Wine Label Vintage 5 1/2" tall Bitter Wine label. It says that "Universal Bitter Wine is a laxative tonic". These were found a number of years ago at the now demolished site of the Universal Chemical Company in Chicago, Illinois. Dated 1920. Universal was a late maker of bitters. Bitters and Bitter Wine were popular around the turn of the century because it was basically alcohol that could not be taxed because they called it a medicine. They pure food and drug act of 1906 put an end to all of that, but a few manufacturers continued making the product for various medical purposes. These are beautiful large labels in excellent condition. They have a little curl, but will straighten right out if framed or put on a bottle. The stickum is still good on the back. Very scarce label. $0.75 #ZLCA026 - Squaw Choice Sifted Peas Can Label 11 1/4" wide vintage label. Circa 1920s. Gilded with nice stone litho of a squaw and papoose. These were found many years ago at the Centerville Canning Co. in Centerville, MD. 1 pound 4 ounce size. Heavily embossed and gilded stone litho. Beautiful. These labels are unused stock that was found in the long closed factory in Newark, New York many years ago. I found a printers inspection tag between some of the labels that is dated April of 1927. This one is the 1 pound 4 ounce size.
