##MUSICGD2011 - Large Grateful Dead Car Window Tour Sticker/Decal - Flag, Bertha, Moon, and Roses
##MUSICGD2011 - Large Grateful Dead Car Window Tour Sticker/Decal - Flag, Bertha, Moon, and Roses
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage large 6 1/2" wide Grateful Dead sticker/decal. These are high quality art decals that were made for car windows (this would have went on a rear window. I peeled the cover off for the picture. They are in mint condition and can still be used. This is an older one from some time in the 1980s. It has various Grateful Dead themes including Bertha in a half moon with roses against and American flag. Excellent unused condition.

These Grateful Dead stickers/decals are old tour merchandise. I found them wrapped in plastic in boxes in master cases. They came from a distributor who sold them to tour vendors. The condition is pristine and they still will work as a car decal or window/mirror sticker. We found them packed away in storage boxes dated 1992 (many are older than that) and 1995 (year Jerry Garcia died). They are high quality artist renderings of Grateful Dead themes. Back in the day, the Dead did not monitor copyrights and that sort of thing, and in fact, at one point encouraged artists to do designs. The LA times explained it well "The Grateful Dead was famously lax in enforcing it’s intellectual property rights and trademarks, allowing fans to create their own designs using the band’s expansive iconography”. Since there was no serious monitoring or much concern back then, a lot of up and coming artists got involved in designing them. This is how some of them got their starts. Some of the sticker artists who designed these stickers went on to produce official licensed works for the Grateful Dead and other famous groups. These stickers include some by now famous designers including David Opie, and others. These 1995 and older stickers are very hard to find anymore.

#TY554 - Crystal Eye Mrs. Santa Claus Doll Mask
#TY554 - Crystal Eye Mrs. Santa Claus Doll Mask
These were part of a fad in the 1960s and 1970s.  Kleenex had a promotion where you sent away for parts like this and they showed you how to make a doll. This one was just the head. There were several variations. People used this one to make Mrs. Santa Claus. These heads are about 4" tall and made of a rubbery plastic material that is bendable. The eyes are three dimensional plastic and sparkly (the carton they were in said doll masks with crystal eyes). I found them sealed in their original cellophane wrapping and they are in excellent like new condition. I'm sure you doll collectors out there will know more about these. We just found these in a warehouse very near here we have been trying to get in for 20 years!

#TY931 - Large Very Old Wood and Crepe Child's Parasol - Japan
#TY931 - Large Very Old Wood and Crepe Child's Parasol - Japan
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage 17" tall and  17" wide when opened. These are fancy child's toy parasols. They are very old, and likely pre-war (1930s or earlier) made in Japan toys. The stems, handles, and spokes are made of wood. There is a spring loaded metal clip that you push a wooden slide over to hold them open. The canopy is made of painted crepe paper. If you look at the larger picture, you will see a little purple crepe decoration right above the slide. Some will have a no harm tear in this section. Very few of these have survived in this kind of condition because the crepe is fragile. Make sure to open them slowly and carefully. Some still have a paper sticker that says Japan on them.  Very unusual large child's toys in exceptional unused condition. They are hand painted, and colors and design will vary.
