#CS358 - Full Display Card of Larger Deco Dress Clips from the 1920s
#CS358 - Full Display Card of Larger Deco Dress Clips from the 1920s
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. These are unbelievable. Vintage 8 1/2" tall display card has a dozen 2 1/8" wide real carved deco design early plastic Bakelite type dress clips attached. To give you an idea of the age, click the picture to see the backs. They were hand sewn onto the cards. The back of one is also shown in the larger picture with the standard back that was used for dress clips during this time period (1920s). This is a rare item. They came from an old beauty supply store where, from what we can tell, they were stuffed away when the Great Depression hit in 1929. The cards are dusty and have bends. The clips are in unused mint condition under the dust.

#PL060 - Sock it to 'em Spiro Pinback
#PL060 - Sock it to 'em Spiro Pinback
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage 1 3/4" diameter pinback that says "Sock it to 'em Spiro". Excellent unused condition. These are interesting. They were made in 1968 by AAA novelty in Washington D.C. and are a reference to a 1968 cameo appearances of Richard Nixon on the Laugh In show which aired just before the general election. Richard Nixon deadpanned, "Sock it to me?" on the show. Many credit that appearance on Laugh-In as pushing Nixon over the top to get elected to the presidency. His opponent Hubert H. Humphrey declined the invitation. Spiro, of course, refers to Spiro Agnew, who was running with Nixon as his Vice President.

##MUSICGD2011 - Large Grateful Dead Car Window Tour Sticker/Decal - Flag, Bertha, Moon, and Roses
##MUSICGD2011 - Large Grateful Dead Car Window Tour Sticker/Decal - Flag, Bertha, Moon, and Roses
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage large 6 1/2" wide Grateful Dead sticker/decal. These are high quality art decals that were made for car windows (this would have went on a rear window. I peeled the cover off for the picture. They are in mint condition and can still be used. This is an older one from some time in the 1980s. It has various Grateful Dead themes including Bertha in a half moon with roses against and American flag. Excellent unused condition.

These Grateful Dead stickers/decals are old tour merchandise. I found them wrapped in plastic in boxes in master cases. They came from a distributor who sold them to tour vendors. The condition is pristine and they still will work as a car decal or window/mirror sticker. We found them packed away in storage boxes dated 1992 (many are older than that) and 1995 (year Jerry Garcia died). They are high quality artist renderings of Grateful Dead themes. Back in the day, the Dead did not monitor copyrights and that sort of thing, and in fact, at one point encouraged artists to do designs. The LA times explained it well "The Grateful Dead was famously lax in enforcing it’s intellectual property rights and trademarks, allowing fans to create their own designs using the band’s expansive iconography”. Since there was no serious monitoring or much concern back then, a lot of up and coming artists got involved in designing them. This is how some of them got their starts. Some of the sticker artists who designed these stickers went on to produce official licensed works for the Grateful Dead and other famous groups. These stickers include some by now famous designers including David Opie, and others. These 1995 and older stickers are very hard to find anymore.
