These passes are 3 3/4" wide, cloth, OTTO, backstage passes for the 1990 MDA Telethon, hosted by Jerry Lewis.  This telethon was for Muscular Dystrophy Association, and aired on Labor Day weekend for six decades. The MDA Telethon was the first telethon to raise over $1 million and be shown entirely in color, and has broken several other records.  Some of the participants in 1990 were Dolly Parton, Alabama, Ray Charles, The Commodores, Bill Cosby, Gloria Estefan, The Four Tops, Aretha Franklin, Hulk Hogan, Naomi Judd, and many more.

#CS089 - Full Box of Dr. Pierre's Hygeiaforms
Vintage 5" wide box from around 1890. It contains a spongy material which was supposed to be used for feminine napkins. The napkins are small by today's standards. These came from a granddaughter of Dr. Pierre. The family had kept some of the items that he used to sell. Interestingly, these came in plain cardboard cases which were unusual for the period (most items came in display boxes). I have learned that it is because this type of item (feminine product) was kept under the counter where it couldn't be seen back then. These boxes are in great shape and are very unusual.

The boxes are decorated with donut images all over them and say "Downyflake Donuts" "See them made. Always Fresh". Downyflake has been around since the early 1930s, and are a famous historic business in Nantucket. These are unused stock from around 1950 that came out of storage in one of the buildings. We got them from long time dealer Lorie Cairns who recently sold us her inventory. Lorie was one of the pioneers in this business, and we are thrilled to share her finds from years ago with you.
