#ZLCA227 - Very Old J. Winslow Jones Green Corn Can Label

Vintage scarce 12" wide J. Winslow Jones' Green Corn can label. Click the image to see the full image of the label. This is a very old one from around 1880. Labels weren't as fancy then, but this is an interesting one. Says stuff like "Beware of Counterfeits. Use no Corn except that bearing the name John Winslow Jones" "Owing the the immense demand for Hermetically Sealed Goods, large amounts of Worthless Articles are offered for sale, which render it very important for purchasers to look well to the BRANDS they purchase". Tells all about the product and has directions for preparing. They are unused old factory stock that shows some fairly minor age stains along edges and tiny age bites. We got these from the estate of the famous dealer and friend Bob Secrist.

#MSH046 - Pair of Mechanical Mini Ash Tray/Hippie Stash Boxes in Original Boxes - Do Not Exhale

Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image (the illustrated box and device are both pictured). You get 2 for $5 (that's $2.50 each). These are a real piece of hippie history. Vintage colorful 2 3/8" tall box. The ashtray/stash box and the device inside say "Notice to Smokers" "If you must smoke, do not exhale". This is a slogan that was common back in the day. It is not quite what it sounds like. It was about holding your breath when you smoked a joint. They picture a guy with a headband smoking a very large pipe. The device inside has a spring loaded cigarette/joint holder that pops out when you open it. It is a tin box that you could use as an ash tray or for joint storage. "Made in Hong Kong". These were sold as novelties and in head shops all over the country in the late 1960s into the early 1970s when stash boxes were all the rage. We found these at an old novelty distributorship in northern Ohio. Excellent unused condition. There were nine different variations (Cigarettes, Cars, Novelty) that we will be offering in this and future catalogs. They would make a really interesting collection.

#CH326-24 - Johnny Weissmuller as Jungle Jim in The Lost Tribe Movie Poster/Broadside

Vintage 13" tall paper movie poster/broadside from the 1949 Johnny Weissmuller movie "The Lost Tribe" where Johnny starred as Jungle Jim. Please click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Back in the day, when a new movie was going to play at the local theatre, there would be a guy who would run around town tacking these things on bulletin boards, telephone poles, fence posts, or anyplace else where they might be seen. Because most were outdoors, few have survived. Some will have small edge tears or roughness, but this is true of all paper movie broadsides, and they can easily be trimmed for framing. Although, a few small imperfections kind of adds to the look with these. Colors vary. We got them from the estate of famous dealer and friend Bob Secrist. He found them in the storage area of an old theatre up in Northeast Ohio.
