#BEADS0982 - Group of 10 Unusually Shaped U.S. Zone Germany Beads
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. You get 10 beads for $2.00 (that's 20¢ each). Vintage large heavy 12mm solid whits beads. They are an unusual shape as you can see in the picture, and are meant to nest in each other. The tag I found with them says U.S. Zone Germany which existed right after WWII from 1945-1949, so they are from that time period. We found these in an old warehouse in New York City. They are dusty and need rinsing (please ignore the dust spots in the picture), but are in excellent unused condition.

#UPaper063 - Japp's True-to-Nature Toupees for Men Brochure with Prices
#UPaper063 - Japp's True-to-Nature Toupees for Men Brochure with Prices
Vintage 7 1/2" tall Japp's 1920s Men's Wigs brochure with prices. These are incredible. Here's what they say "The directors in Hollywood Movie Studios brought it about. They insisted that the men who were partially bald must have a full head of hair so as to look youthful. So, these directors demanded a Toupee that could not be detected on screen." "Hence, the new Hollywood Toupee". "Baldness is a handicap to any man both from the standpoint of appearance and health. Toupees make one look 10 years younger and also prevent colds in the head." Japp's was a high end beauty care company that specialized in wigs and hair care products. They catered to wealthy clients. These were found in the building many years ago and were made during the roaring 20s right before the Great Depression. During that time period, people had lots of money to spend, and the prices for these wigs were really high for the time period. You sent them a sample of your hair and a paper drawing of your bald spot to get the color and size right. Hair-Lace Front Toupees were $40. That would be $513.07 in today's dollars!!!!!!!! The building is still here in downtown Cincinnati where these were found and has been converted to a bar that is all about the history of the building. They even have tours down there now. These are the only group of these brochures found.

#CC191 - Coca Cola "Refreshing Secret" Carton Insert
#CC191 - Coca Cola "Refreshing Secret" Carton Insert

Vintage 5 3/4" tall fold out pamphlet Coca Cola carton insert. Six sided with a lady on the inside telling you about how Coca-Cola contained "80 quick-energy calories" and compares that to apples, oranges and other things people considered healthy at the time. They call it the "refreshing secret". The last copyright on the pamphlet is 1951 and they are from around that period. These are neat. We just bought part of a huge collection of Coke items. These were part of the lot. The fellow that had this stuff is a friend who searched old bottling plants and hauled most of this stuff out many years ago.

##MUSICGD2029 - Grateful Dead Car Window Tour Sticker/Decal - Demon Fine-Line
##MUSICGD2029 - Grateful Dead Car Window Tour Sticker/Decal - Demon Fine-Line
Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage 4 7/8" tall Grateful Dead sticker/decal. This one features an angry looking horned demon. Marked "Copyright 1989 Fine-Line Products, Inc.". This type sticks on the outside of glass or a mirror or your pocket. They are in mint condition and can still be used.

These Grateful Dead stickers/decals are old tour merchandise. I found them wrapped in plastic in boxes in master cases. They came from a distributor who sold them to tour vendors. The condition is pristine and they still will work as a car decal or window/mirror sticker. We found them packed away in storage boxes dated 1992 (many are older than that) and 1995 (year Jerry Garcia died). They are high quality artist renderings of Grateful Dead themes. Back in the day, the Dead did not monitor copyrights and that sort of thing, and in fact, at one point encouraged artists to do designs. The LA times explained it well “The Grateful Dead was famously lax in enforcing it’s intellectual property rights and trademarks, allowing fans to create their own designs using the band’s expansive iconography”. Since there was no serious monitoring or much concern back then, a lot of up and coming artists got involved in designing them. This is how some of them got their starts. Some of the sticker artists who designed these stickers went on to produce official licensed works for the Grateful Dead and other famous groups. These stickers include some by now famous designers including David Opie, and others. These 1995 and older stickers are very hard to find anymore.

It then goes on to list the Coke plants where they could be purchased. Unused stock from an old Coke plant in North Carolina.
