##MUSICBQ0174 - 1986 Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Pinback Button from "Button-Up"

Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Marked "Button-up" and "Copyright 1986 The T-Shirt Company." around the rim. These are from around the 1986 tour. These licensed types are very scarce, yet easy to identify by the licensing info on the side of the button. Most of the musical pinbacks that you see for sale on Ebay or other online sites are reproductions. These licensed types retail for much higher prices. We uncovered them very recently in an old vending warehouse here locally. Excellent unused condition. Springsteen is number 23 on the "Rolling Stone Top 100 List, and numbers 24 and 37 on the "Best-Selling Albums of All-Time" list. He has been nominated for 50 Grammy Awards, and won 20 Grammy Awards, that is beyond impressive! He has sold over 65.5 million albums, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.

##MUSICGD2059 - Grateful Dead Window Sticker/Decal - Unwinding Skull with Roses

Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. Vintage 4 1/2" diameter Grateful Dead sticker/decal. This one has a a yellow skull that is unwinding into a spiral surround by roses. These are high quality art decals that were made for car windows. I peeled the cover off for the picture. They are in mint condition and can still be used. This one is from around the late 1980s.

These Grateful Dead stickers/decals are old tour merchandise. I found them wrapped in plastic in boxes in master cases. They came from a distributor who sold them to tour vendors. The condition is pristine and they still will work as a car decal or window/mirror sticker. We found them packed away in storage boxes dated 1992 (many are older than that) and 1995 (year Jerry Garcia died). They are high quality artist renderings of Grateful Dead themes. Back in the day, the Dead did not monitor copyrights and that sort of thing, and in fact, at one point encouraged artists to do designs. The LA times explained it well "The Grateful Dead was famously lax in enforcing it’s intellectual property rights and trademarks, allowing fans to create their own designs using the band’s expansive iconography”. Since there was no serious monitoring or much concern back then, a lot of up and coming artists got involved in designing them. This is how some of them got their starts. Some of the sticker artists who designed these stickers went on to produce official licensed works for the Grateful Dead and other famous groups. These stickers include some by now famous designers including David Opie, and others. These 1995 and older stickers are very hard to find anymore.

##MUSICBQ0238 - Group of 3 LL Cool J Pinback Buttons from "Button-Up"

Click the picture to see a larger more detailed image. You get 3 for $2.40 (that's 80¢ each). Vintage 1 1/2" diameter pinback with a colorful image of the cover of the Walking with a Panther" album. Marked "Copyright 1989 USH around the rim, and from the 1980s. It also says "It also says "Button-Up Co. 2011 Austin" (Please note - 2011 Austin Drive, Troy MI was their address, and the "2011" is often mistaken for the date - they are substantially older than that). The Button-Up info is very hard to read because it is black print on a black part of the button. I had to get my magnifying glass out. These licensed types are very scarce, yet easy to identify by the licensing info on the side of the button. ##MUSICBP1388 - Set of 4 Jerry Lewis OTTO Cloth Backstages Passes from the 1990 MDA Telethon

These passes are 3 3/4" wide, cloth, OTTO, backstage passes for the 1990 MDA Telethon, hosted by Jerry Lewis. This telethon was for Muscular Dystrophy Association, and aired on Labor Day weekend for six decades. The MDA Telethon was the first telethon to raise over $1 million and be shown entirely in color, and has broken several other records. Some of the participants in 1990 were Dolly Parton, Alabama, Ray Charles, The Commodores, Bill Cosby, Gloria Estefan, The Four Tops, Aretha Franklin, Hulk Hogan, Naomi Judd, and many more.
